Counter Mapping

The article offers a critique of modern Western cartographies, in particular its alleged objectivity and neutrality, from the point of view of the zniti indigenous people’s cosmovisition, which lives in the homonymous reservation, located between the states of New Mexico and Arizona of the USA. It shows how the modern maps have played a vital role in the process of political and cultural colonialization in the world, with examples of the U.S., and revinds the value of other cartographies based on other cosmographies, such as those of indigenous peoples.
