Declaration of the International meeting around the First World Gathering of Elders and Wise Persons of Diverse Indigenous Traditions
Wise Indigenous Elders1994
A declaration produced by the first global meeting of elders and sages from various indigenous traditions that took place in 1994 in Bolivia. The declaration includes a diagnosis of the serious problems that humanity and the Earth are facing, and looks for solutions based on love. Humans are mere custodians of the wealth and natural resources that Mother Nature, noble and generous, provides for the fulfilment of our basic needs. Under no circumstances do we have any right to exploit nature destructively, and any such action would be totally irresponsible.
