Declaration of the Sacred Earth Gathering

The Declaration of the Sacred Earth had the support of many indigenous, religious, political and NGOs’ leaders who participated at the Sacred Earth Gathering for two days prior to the First Earth Summit in 1992. They had come to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, from around the world to provide spiritual perspectives on environmental issues and decision-making in the highly politicized atmosphere of the Earth Summit of the Organisation of the United Nations. It is a concise and deep text which remains in force now as then.
