Opening the Book of Nature2003
During the Spring of 2003, Appalachian Voices, a coalition of environmental organizations in Boone, North Carolina, invited the Opening the Book of Nature Christian ministry to explore and identify the spiritual values of the Lost Cove – Harper Creek area of Western North Carolina. The statement includes the following points: Spiritual Revival is Inherent in Wilderness; Teacher, Healer and Prophet; A Geography of Hope; and Wilderness as Tithe. The recommendations include: visit the Lost Cove-Harper Creek proposed wildenerness area, speak out on the spiritual values of wilderness; take action to preserve and protect this wild area; invite churches and clergy into a discussion on the spiritual values of wilderness; and reflect on our responsibility to future generations.
