The Montserrat Statement on sacred natural sites in technologically developed countries
The Delos Initiative, IUCN2006
Declaration drawn up by participants in the international seminar on nature and spirituality held in Montserrat (Catalonia, Spain) on 23-26 November 2006. This seminar was the first organised by the Delos Initiative, a group forming part of the Task Force on Cultural and Spiritual Values in Protected Areas belonging to the IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas. The declaration represents the conclusions from the seminar, and also includes a number of important statements and recommendations by experts from eight countries, including representatives from Christian and Buddhist monasteries, environmental bodies, international, national and local nature conservation organisations, and academics.
