Environmental Protection in Islam

This publication summarizes, in thirty pages, the Islamic doctrine of the conservation of nature, according to the Koranic revelation and the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad. After an introduction which explains the Islamic position in relation to the universe, natural resources and the relationship of humans with nature, the work is divided into three chapters. The first is dedicated to protecting water, air, land and soil, plants and animals. The following chapter deals with the impact that human activities cause through waste, pesticides, radioactive substances, noise, drugs, and also discusses natural disasters. The last chapter presents the principles, policies and institutions that, according to Islamic law, govern the procedures and measures for environmental protection. Concludes summarizing the message that conservation of the environment and nature is a commandment of God, the Creator ans Sustainer of all beings, an imperative for all humanity, which should draw all the consequences that are imposed on all without exception.
