The CSVPA e-Newsletter “Culture for Nature”
2014
The Newsletter of the IUCN Specialist Group on Cultural and Spiritual Values of Protected Areas (CSVPA) consists of an array of material, ranging from reportage of work being done around the world in the field of culture and conservation, to theoretical essays attempting to find new ways of approaching protected and conserved areas, taking into consideration the full range of human motivations, values and experiences. The Newsletter contributions reflect the personal experiences of indigenous peoples, and the intersection of issues of social justice, culture and nature conservation. They also include pieces that inform of new developments in the world’s major religions which would positively impact nature conservation. As such, the contributions reflect the multi-vocal and multi-cultural character of the Specialist Group, interested in the manner in which culture positively influences our interaction with nature – be it culture as art, spirituality, religion or tradition.
