International Court for the Rights of Nature2018
The International Court’s historic ruling urges the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia to ensure the immediate and definitive stoppage of any progress in the construction of road infrastructure in the Isiboro Sécure Indigenous Territory and National Park; prohibit the construction of a highway that crosses its core zone while respecting the rights of the indigenous peoples living there. It also establishes that the Government of Bolivia must recognize the territorial right and autonomy of the area of the former forest concessions of Bosque de Chimanes in favor of the Multiethnic Indigenous Territory to guarantee the control and management of the area and adopt effective measures to stop the advance of colonization in said territory, among other relevant provisions
