Parcs als comunals. La patrimonialització de la muntanya al Pallars Sobirà

This monograph is the fruit of research started in 2005 as part of the Inventory of the Ethnologic Heritage of Catalonia. The authors offer a critical analysis the way in which, beyond the inherent landscape and environmental values of the mountainous county of Pallars Sobirà (Catalan Pyrenees), conservation policies are related to factors such as depopulation or the large amount of publically and collectively owned lands derived from old communal uses. They argue that these policies represent the final stage in the territorialization process started over a century ago by the Spanish Government, which has been continued by the Catalan Government since the restoration of democracy to Spain.
