Our Sacred Commitment
Interreligious Faith for Nature Conference2020
Our Sacred Commitment is the final declaration of the Faith for Nature Conference, which took place from October 5 to 8, 2020 in the historic Skálholt Cathedral in southern Iceland, as at headquarters from where high-level sessions were broadcast, with online dialogues with Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America and the Caribbean. Religious leaders, religious communities, and congregated academics, recognizing the threefold threats of poverty and inequality, climate change, and biodiversity loss, agreed to push for a coalition of hope, commitment, and action, with a set of sacred commitments. Religious organizations around the world are committed to working through spiritual traditions and different sectors, to carry out actions that protect and restore nature, as a shared moral responsibility.
