Budhism and Ecology: The Interconnection of Dharma and Deeds
Tucker, Mary Evelyn; Williams, Duncan Ryuken (eds.)1998
This collective work examines the relationship between Buddhism and the environment. The authors, who include a wide range of religious and other experts, examine Buddhist teachings and their application in light of the current environmental crisis, and the restoration of the reciprocity between man and nature. The 19 articles use examples of Buddhist environmental protection projects in Asia and the United Estates to discuss the different branches of Buddhism: Theravada, Mahayana, Zen, etc., in terms of the doctrinal and theoretical standpoints that are essential for understanding their environmental ethics, and their practical application in environmental protection.
