Esencia – Cosmovisión Andina
Pfuture Consa, Evaristo2008
The Andean cosmovision is the ancestral philosophy of life of the Incas. From a geographical point of view, the Inca culture is the most widespread American culture since it covers part of the modern states of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile and Argentina. The Incas had a complete cosmic view of the world that is still alive in isolated areas of the Andes.
The Andean cosmovision that grew up and was practiced is unique and was developed with what today would be seen as an unprecedented degree of humanism and brotherhood. In the Andean philosophy of life the concept of unity is essential – everything is related and life is organised according to natural laws. Human life aims to be at one with the cosmos, nature and family.
The Incas used sacred symbols not as objects with a material value, but for what they represented. They were used to provide orientation and a guide for the ontological evolution of the person. When this way of life was threatened, the Incas ensured the survival of their sacred symbols by transmitting them orally from one generation to the next, from parents to children, in the heart of certain selected families, up to this day.
