Stations of the Forest
St Columbans Missions Society2011
The Stations of the Cross is a devotion that commemorates the Passion of Jesus. It is commonly used during the time of Lent, especially Good Friday, in the Catholic Church. The purpose of the stations is to make a spiritual pilgrimage, through prayer and meditation on certain scenes of the sufferings and death of Jesus. In the mid-1980s, in the Philippines, Columban Father Vincent Busch developed a series of “Forest Stations” using the popular format of the Stations of the Cross, to mourn the stages of one’s death of God’s Creation, the tropical forests where the Subanan indigenous are living, Philippines. This short documentary explains this initiative very well. The attached PDF document contains the corresponding texts
