EUROPARC-España2006
For the first time in Spain, the subject of intangible values of natural protected areas was discussed by the Spanish Section of the Europarc Federation, in the context of a Spanish conference. A number of conclusions were reached. It was agreed to: (i) Incorporate these values into the review of the Action Plan for the protected natural areasin the spanish state; (ii) Promote their recognition and inclusion in the management plans of natural protected areas; (iii) Foster the maintenance of traditional activities as a part of biodiversity conservation; (iv) Promote the incorporation of programmes concerning intangible natural values into educational policies in protected natural areas; (v) Formally support the “Delos Initiative” and its case studies in Spain.
The proposal was prepared by Jordi Falgarona, president of the Silene Association at that time.
