Operational guidelines for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention
UNESCO2008
This document, aimed at facilitating the implementation of the World Heritage Convention, is periodically updated by the World Heritage Committee with the latest policy decisions. These guidelines set out the procedures for registering sites on the World Heritage List and the World Heritage Risk List, the protection and conservation of world heritage sites, the provision of international aid through the World Heritage Fund, and the request of national and international support for the World Heritage Convention. It is worth noting that many of the sites included in the World Heritage List – those of cultural and natural interest (or both) – have significant immaterial and/or spiritual values.
