Uncivilisation: The Dark Mountain Manifesto
Paul Kingsnorth & Dougald Hine2009
Written by Paul Kingsnorth and Dougald Hine, this manifesto was a first attempt to put into words the ideas and feelings that engendered the Dark Mountain project, which has borne much fruit since then. The manifesto was born from two years of conversations, was self-published -crow-funded online- and was launched in the summer of 2009 at a small gathering on the banks of the river outside Oxford, England. According to its authors, it is a raised banner, a starting point, an invitation to have a wider conversation off the beaten track. The manifesto offers a radical diagnosis of the situation in which our civilization lives, organized into four parts, including several poems from other authors, and concludes with the eight principles of uncivilisation.
