The inaugural Ismaili Centre International Lecture at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, 2014 was devoted to discussing the roles of Religion, Secularism in fronmt of the challenges of the global environmental crisis. Thespeaker, Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr i a is an Iranian professor emeritus of Islamic studies at George Washington University, an Islamic philosopher and sufi teacher. He is the author of over 50 scholarly books and hundreds of articles. Since the publication of ‘The Encounter of Man and Nature: The Spiritual Crisis of Modern Man (1968) has been reflecting on the spiritual roots of the environemtnal crisis, and its implications both for environmental and faith organisations.
