The integration of Intangible Heritage in Protected Areas: the case of Hexafolia

Organized by the Silene Association, with the support of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and the Valls d’Àneu Ecomuseum, on October 28, 2022, a Seminar took place in Esterri d’Àneu, Catalan Pyrenees, devoted to exploring the integration of intangible heritage in protected natural spaces, based on the best rpactice example of sexafolia, the logo of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park.
The day, of a technical nature, had the participation of the director of the Natural Park, Marc Garriga, the director of the Ecomuseum, Jordi Abella, and professionals, technicians and those interested in the subject, from the region. The antropologist Júlia Carrera and Josep Maria Mallarach, Silene coordinator, gave in depth presentations on the sexafolia, which gave rise to lively discussions. In the afternoon, a participatory session took place, moderated by Xavier Peranau, Silene, which made it possible to agree on conclusions and several proposals to develop next years. The seminar ended with a guided visit to several buildings that the Valls d’Àneu Ecomuseum has in Esterri d’Àneu.
On Monday, December 19, Xavier Peranau and Josep Maria Mallarach presented the summary of the seminar in a scientific online dissemination program of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, led by Oriol Grau, which you can access at this link (duration: 1 hour).
This technical seminar was be complemented by another, more experiential one, on the following Saturday and Sunday, at the Farrera Art and Nature Centre: 5th Art, Nature and Spirituality Days, which had as motto: Images, emergencies and symbols. For the sake of Hexafolia
