2nd Congress in the Carpathian Network of Protected Areas: spiritual values

The Second Congress of the Carpathian Network of Protected Areas will be held on 23–26 April in Tatrasnká Javořina in the High Tatras National Park (Slovakia).
This conference will explore the challenges and opportunities for protected areas in terms of sustainable finance, sustainable development, ecological connectivity and continuity in planning and management with a focus on cross-border cooperation. Major international events will include lectures and workshops, as well as a number of excursions. The presentations and discussions will incorporate examples of good practices with innovative approaches in Europe focusing on the Carpathians.
On 25 April, there is a side event coordinated by Josep-Maria Mallarach devoted to the importance of spiritual values in protected areas. The Delos Initiative of the WCPA will describe the international community’s view of the subject from a European perspective focussed on the Carpathian region. Examples will be presented that can be applied in protected areas in the Carpathians, and there will be time to discuss the opportunities that spiritual values provide for expanding the social support for protected areas.
