Barefoot Art for the Earth: Art, Spirituality and Caring for the Earth
Llobregat Delta, Barcelona, Catalonia15 April 2023
On April 15, the third day of the Barefoot Art for the Earth Project, which is developed throughout the 22/23 academic year, took place in the Remolar-Philippines Natural Area (Llobregat Delta, next to Barcelona), focusing on the conflicts over fertile land.
The events that have preceded this call have been the Meditation Meeting for the Earth through Art, which took place on November 12 in Vil·la Joana and the Matinal Toquem de peus a Terra, which took place on February 4 in St Jeroni de la Murtra, both in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.
“Art descalç per la Terra” is an initiative of Justice and Peace with the collaboration of the Catalan Interreligious Network for Peace and with the participation of a group of artists, to promote a deep and spiritual connection with Nature through Art, understanding that Spirituality and Art are essential capacities of every human being and that it is from this integral transformation that we can face with creativity and commitment the changes that the current crisis demands.
The location of the activity was chosen because of the symbolic value it has the site, as an exponent of exceptional beauty and ecological value, tenaciously defended and preserved in the face of the threat of the large occupation projects of the territory, promoted from a model of development discordant with Nature.
