Dialogue Workshop on Indigenous knowledge, Traditional knowledge, Science and connecting diverse knowledge systems

A dialogue workshop will be held from 10-13 April in Usdub, Guna Yala, Panama, the week before the second session of the Intergovernmental Platform Science-Policy on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) plenary in Panama City. The participants will include a well balanced group of representatives from indigenous peoples organisations, scientists, local communities or farmer organizations and decisions makers.
An indigenous organization based in Panama, Fundación para la Promoción del Conocimiento Indígena (FPCI) will be the local host of the meeting. Purpose of the meeting is the same as the objective of the full dialogue process, and focus on to further explore how the exchange between knowledge systems can take place in a respectful and constructive manner. The dialogue workshop is a response to requests from knowledge holders for an opportunity to meet with researchers and policy makers and discuss the implications and potential of initiatives such as IPBES as well as provide their contributions to the process.
