European Day of Parks: Building on our Roots

The EUROPARC Federation (which brings together most of the government bodies responsible for protected natural areas in Europe) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with the motto “Building on our roots”. The key ideas of this ephemeris can be summarized as follows: Natural heritage is part of our identity and therefore we all have the responsibility and the joy of maintaining it for future generations and discovering how we can build on it. Loving our heritage strengthens our identity and connects us to the wider natural environment. For this reason, this year it is appropriate to evoke the essential importance that intangible cultural heritage has in the conservation of our natural heritage.
