International Mountain Day 2022: ‘Women move mountains’

The theme of International Mountain Day 2022 is ‘Women move mountains’, in recognition of the crucial role women play in the preservation of traditions and knowledge, and the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity in all ecosystems of mountains in the world.
The Department of Culture and Education of the Holy See together with the Mountain Partnership, in collaboration with Giovane Montagna, the Italian Alpine Club and Guia Don Bosco 6000 – Peru, organizes a day in Rome with a diversity of actors linked to the mountains of the world, with the purpose of generating a shared reflection that highlights the invisible thread that encourages everyone to admire the panorama of a summit, which can be reached through the multiple possible paths that have the principles of sharing, dialogue, solidarity and care. The opening speech will be given by Edwin Bernbaum, author of the book “Sacred Mountains of the World” and coordinator of the Expert Group on Cultural and Spiritual Values of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas
