International Symposium: Sacré nature, paysages du sacré !
Orleans, France22-24 Jannuary 2019
The symposium is devoted to explore the the links between natural landscapes, religions and beliefs. The existence of a spiritual relationship to nature sufficiently intense and specific to induce territorial management decisions in the landscape is the main hypothesis. It deliberately places itself under the umbrella of the cross-disciplinary gaze and the search for temporalities surrounding the process of sacralization or desecration of nature. It lends itself to a wider discussion of nature-culture relationships. The sessions organized by the debates are: Epistemological and spiritual approaches of the sacred-nature couple; meaning and figures of the sacredness of nature; the sacred, makes landscapes.
This international symposium is co-organized by CEDETE (Centre d’étude sur le développement des territoires et l’environnement, EA 1210) et SAVOURS (Savoirs et pouvoirs de l’antiquité à nos jours, EA 3772) de la universidad de Orléans, and the ENeC (Espaces nature et culture, UMR 8185 CNRS, université de Paris IV).
