Presentation of the Silene Association at the 14th Congress Europarc-Spain
Bayona, Pontevedra, Spain18-22 June 2008
On June 20th 2008 during the annual Congress of the Spanish Section of the EUROPARC Federation (Esparc 2008), the Association Silene presented a proposal that highlighted the growing need to incorporate intangible natural values into the protected natural areas strategies. The Association explained the principal characteristics of the most emblematic example of a project of this nature, the Delos Initiative (IUCN WCPA), and described the main results of its application from 2004 to the present day.
In the same session, a collaboration agreement between the Fundación Fernando González Bernáldez, Europarc-Spain and the Association Silene was presented. This document will provide Europarc-Spain with technical support in the implementation of the recommendations agreed upon in the 2005 congress regarding “Intangible values and protected natural areas” and provide Silene with the support and backing of Europarc-Spain in the furtherance and pursuit of its projects within the Spanish State.
