Route of Seven Marian shrines in the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, Catalan Pyrenees
Natural park Cadí-Moixeró, CataloniaJune 2013
The Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, located in the Catalan Pyrenees, has made available to all its visitors a route through seven shrines dedicated to the Holy Virgin. Among the various Romanesque churches that are found in the Natural Park, those dedicated to Saint Mary stand out for their popular roots, the beauty of their surroundings, the popularity of the festivals that are celebrated every year and the devotional tenderness of the people of the neighborhood.
Each shrine has singularities: from which it offered lodging to the walkers who crossed the mountain range of the Cadí, to which they are places of old Christianized cults. In many of these shrines there are still traditional celebrations, which mark the course of the year, with a large participation of people from the local communities. Whether you go with a devotional spirit or a hiker, these shrines are special places, in magnificent natural surroundings, impregnated with poetry and beauty, which stimulate contemplation. The route connects seven mountain landscapes, seven historical evolutions and seven different architectural features, united by the natural space and by an intimate worship that has persisted for more than seven centuries.
