Sanctuaries of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands and nature : reflections and perspectives

Within the framework of the 28th Trobada de Rectors de Santuaris de Catalunya i Balears (Meeting of Sanctuary Priests of Catalonia and Balearic Islands, Spain), held in Núria (Girona, Spain) from 12-14 March 2007, Josep M. Mallarach and Jordi Falgarona, members of Silene Association and The Delos Initiative (World Commission on Protected Areas), have presented a comunication entitled “Santuaris i Natura: reflexions i perspectives”.

The communication analyzed the situation of the sanctuaries of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands that were found in protected natural areas, and proposed concrete collaboration modules among those responsible for the sanctuaries and those of protected natural areas, they are implanted – like the one of Our Lady of Núria – from the shared interests and objectives.
