Werkami publication on the Cultural and Spiritual Values of Mediterranean Trees

Josep Gordi Serrat, professor of Geography at the University of Girona, has just completed the study entitled (in Catalan) ‘Mediterranean trees. A tour of its cultural and spiritual values’, in which it explains the biogeographic evolution of the trees in the Mediterranean; the role of trees in mythology and classical literature; the spiritual values of the trees to the Christian and Muslim religion; trees in folklore and their social and political valorisation; and, finally, the role of trees in literature.

All copyrights of the book will be donated to the NGO Sol Solidari and will be aimed at a project to reduce deforestation in Ethiopia, through the introduction of solar ovens and other methods of saving firewood among the population living around it sacred wood of Yimrihane (North Wollo).
