Sacred Sites at the IUCN Summit on Protected Areas Categories, Almeria 2007

On behalf of the IUCN WCPA Task Force on Cultural and Spiritual Values of Protected Areas and The Delos Initiative, Bas Verschuuren, Josep-Maria Mallarach and Gonzalo Oviedo, members of the Delos Initiative working group, will submit a working paper on Sacred Sites and Protected Areas to the next Summit of IUCN Categories of protected areas, to be held in Almería, Spain, from 7-11 May 2007.
Josep-Maria Mallarach, Silene Association, will also present the results of the workshop on protected landscapes-IUCN category V protected areas, held in Olot, Catalonia, where the cultural and spiritual values, as well as different governance approaches are discussed.
