Cordoba, Spain9–11 January 2015
The Spanish Iniciativa Comunales (Communal Initiative), with support from the Department of Economics, Sociology and Agricultural Policy of the University of Córdoba, organized a participatory workshop on 9–10 January 2015 at the University of Cordoba, Andalusia, Spain, whose aim was to identify and prioritize lines of research in communal uses in Spain. The workshop brought together over thirty participants from different Spanish communal organizations plus other organizations involved in researching this subject.
The workshop addressed the main problems that communal systems have in Spain and identified the main challenges that their management and use are having to face up to, as well as future prospects. Various lines of research were discussed for each problem and challenge. Finally, a number of proposals were drawn up as agenda priorities for research into communal uses in Spain.
After the workshop, the Constituent General Assembly of the Communal Initiative was held, in which the draft articles of the association were discussed and a consensus was reached. Administrative aspects were formalized and the roadmap for the project was updated.
The Silene Association participated in the workshop and the constituent assembly of this project and was able to provide expertise on intangible heritage and sacred natural sites.
