Ecological conversion process of the Mariapolis el Diamante, Mexico
El Diamante, Puebla, MexicoFrom May 2021
In May 2021 we began accompanying the ecological conversion process promoted by the Mariapolis el Diamante, located in the state of Puebla (Mexico). Starting from a consensual commitment, based on the principles of the Christian tradition and the Focolare movement itself, which provides the justification and foundation, we proceeded to elaborate a participatory diagnosis and prepare proposals for actions to be carried out from now on in order to graducally improve the environmental coherence in all areas of this site: from water, energy or waste to food and transportation. The Declaration ‘Walking together towards an integral ecological conversion’, approved on December 7, marked the end of this stage of awareness and diagnosis, and the beginning of the commitment to deploy and apply it.
Throughout 2022, we have continued accompanying the process of ecological conversion, with quarterly telematic meetings with the members of the Mariapolis to reflect together on the figure of Saint Mary as the inspirer of the process of ecological conversion (ecomistagogue). This has given rise to a reflection document (of a theological nature) that proposes criteria for how Mary can guide the process of conversion, external and internal, based on the application of the environmental projects that Mariapolis carries out.
