Launching of IUCN Guidelines for geoconservation in protected and conserved areas

After two years of work, IUCN has published a Best Practice Guidelines for Geoheritage of Protected (legally) or Conserved (by other effective means) Areas. The guide has been developed by an international team of experts, led by Scottish geologist Roger Crofts, Chair of the Specilist Group og Geoheritage Conservation, World Commission on Protected Areas. Josep Maria Mallarach (Silene Association) contributed with religious and spiritual values of geological heritage, including examples from around the world. The Resource Center on the Silene website is recommended as a reference for the cultural and spiritual values of geological heritage.
