Silene allegation to the Planning of the Natural Park Cadí-Moixeró
Catalan Pyrenees24 November 2021
The Silene Association has presented an allegation during the participatory process of the planning of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, Catalan Pyrenees, in which it celebrates that the Plan has included a specific objective dedicated to ‘contributing to the conservation of heritage material and intangible culture’ with all the typologies proposed in Spanish Manual on Intangible Heritage (2012).
However, Silene highlights i) the lack of consideration of spiritual values in the definition of the mentioned objective; ii) the lack of spatial identification of these elements of intangible and spiritual cultural interest in the appropriate planes; iii) the lack of regulation to ensure the conservation of these values, in the face of pressures or threats that currently affect them or are foreseeable; iv) the lack of actions aimed at maintaining, recovering or enhancing intangible and spiritual cultural values, in particular those that can become valuable allies in the conservation of protected natural space.
The allegation also indicates the applicable IUCN guidelines regarding this topic, the modifications that should be introduced in the Plan, generically, and end offering advice and expertise to the authors to review and complete the documentation of the plan in accordance with the allegation.
