A two-volume encyclopaedia of religion and nature that examines the relationship between human beings, our natural surroundings and the religious dimensions of life. Written in a serious and clear style, these volumes cover a large number of interdisciplinary fields and include over 1000 contributions from more than 530 authors. Each entry is accompanied by an expert article and by text written by other investigators who have carried out significant research in the field. The introduction includes an overview of the subjects of religion and nature, the different factors that led to the writing of this encyclopaedia, comments on the most important entries, and speculation regarding the future of the relationship between nature and religion. Following on from the introduction there is guide that provides readers with an idea of how this work should be used and the different types of entries it includes.
