Building Partnerships with the Faith Community: A Resource Guide for Environmental Groups

This document acts as a guide and orientation for religious communities wanting to get involved in environmental protection. Its aim is to help environmental leaders promote dialogue with religious communities based on a recognition of the opportunities and synergies that could be created by collaboration between these two communities. The first chapters discuss the importance of collaboration and association between secular and religious conservationists and includes proposals describing how environmental organisations can connect with religious institutions and how the environment is understood from the point of view of faith. Examples are given of possible collaborative projects and details are given regarding Christianity and Judaism, the majority religions in the United States. The final chapters provide historical information and discuss the context in which these two religions have developed. Finally, there is a glossary, bibliography and list of organisations and institutions of interest.
