Proceedings from the 2nd International Workshop of the Delos Initiative, organized by the Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Anthropos (Med-INA), held in Ouranóupolis, at the border of the monastic territory of the Holy Mountain or Mount Athos, in Halkidiki, NE Greece, from 24-28 October 2007. The publication has four parts: the first contains the analysis of six case studies from Australia, the United States, Italy, Morocco, South Korea and Russia; the second deals with monastic lands, with special attention paid to the monastery of Athos and case studies from Romania, Greece, Spain an Bulgaria; the third consists of four papers focusing on the synergy between spirituality and conservation in protected areas and sacred natural sites; the last part contains the Ouranoupolis Declaration on sacred natural sites in technologically developed countries. Silene Association collaborated in the preparation of the workshop and the edition of the proceedings. The volumne has a preface of the Patriach Bartholomew I of Constantinople, followed by contributions of F. Dimitros Tziritis and F. Gregorious, representatives of the Monastic Republic of Agios Oros (Holy Mountain).
