This publication highlights the importance of traditional knowledge in the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and consequently the interest in preserving, maintaining and promoting this knowledge. It also establishes the fundamental basis of an inventory of traditional knowledge in the Kingdom of Spain.The publication contains an approach to traditional knowledge, its importance and the current state of its study in Spain and explains in detail the methodology used to generate this inventory. It also includes the first 55 inventory sheets whose purpose is to help preserve and foment knowledge of Spain’s important ethnobotanical heritage.
