Saviesa ancestral
Pigem, Jordi; Miralles, Jordi2009
The issue shows how the Indigenous communities characteristics, as well as their culture and worldviews, perfectly adapted to their environment as a result of hundreds, and even thousands of years of direct interaction with nature and oral cultural transmission through generations. The document highlights relevant facts such as the correlation between biological and cultural diversity, the integration of concepts that induces sustainability on their own worldview, or the close links they establish with the environment. Moreover, it discusses why Western society, alone and without those values or referents, is heading towards collapse. In short, a statement on the validity and alternatives that indigenous people’s knowledge systems offer in front of the scientism model. At the end, several resources are suggested for those who want to get a deeper understanding of the topic.
