Seminar on Health and Natural Areas in Catalonia
Barcelona, Catalonia 22-23 September 2014
Can a walk through a forest full of old trees help us prevent or treat certain diseases? What is Nature-deficit Syndrome? How can we harness the therapeutic properties of natural areas? The conference on Health and Natural Areas centres on these questions and aims to convey to participants the therapeutic and educational benefits that forests and natural areas can provide beyond simply providing or regulating services. This is shown by the contrasting experiences developed in different countries by research groups that demonstrate the benefits for human wellness, both physical and mental, that can be obtained from natural areas.
Lectures will discuss different issues such as the benefits to personal health to be gained by being outdoors, the therapeutic effects of forests, and the wellness and educational benefits of contact with nature. The seminar will be held on 22–23 September in the Auditorium of La Pedrera, Barcelona, Catalonia. The seminar targets health professionals, managers of natural areas, civil servants and science and nature educators, as well as citizens interested in the topic.
Attendance is free but prior registration is required. Please end mail to territori@fcatalunyalapedrera.com or call (+34) 93 214 25 67.
