Spiritual and mental health in the Cycle of Seminars on Health and Nature
Palau Macaya, BarcelonaOctober 2018 - January 2019
The Xarxa de Custòdia del Territori (a Catalan network of landtrusts and related organisations) wants to value the contribution of nature to human health and the promotion of a well preserved environment that guarantees sustainable and healthy development through a cycle that brings together national and international experts.
The sessions will present studies and experiences that show how contact with nature favors welfare, health and sustainable development, from a multidisciplinary perspective. The cycle aims to promote the definition of future actions in three participatory days that will be devoted, respectively, to (i) healthy and sustainable territories; (ii) healthy cities and (iii) equity in access to nature. A public declaration will be drafted at the end, which will define a future strategy for Catalonia.
The first day, on October 8, 2018, devoted to “the preservation of nature for the benefit of health”, will begin with a Keynote speech by Dr. Qing Li, who will deal with the therapy and forestry medicine; Dr Mark Nieuwenhuijsen will talk about the benefits of nature in physical health, Dr. José Antonio Corraliza will address the benefits for psychic health, and Dr. Josep M. Mallarach, President of the Silene Association, will address the area of spiritual health, following the holistic approach adopted by both the World Health Organization and the programs “Healthy Parks, Healthy People” (Healthy Parks, Healthy People) driven in several countries.
The presentation of Josep M. Mallarach and the Declaration on the interdependence of health and nature in Catalonia, adopted on January 30, 2019, are available in this news.
