The Koran constantly reminds man that all creatures have rights (huqûq) that must be respected. That is why the Islamic Law (al-Shariah) that derives from the Koran contains numerous prescriptions regarding our responsibility towards non-human creatures, from wild animals to furtive trees. Caring for the Creation of God is one of the main messages of the Qur’an, and an important part of the Sharîah.
