Conference on integrated management of cultural and natural heritage in Catalonia
Barcelona, Catalonia 22 October 2015
The History Museum of Catalonia and the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Catalan government organize this event with the aim of establishing a space for debate among the different agents and professionals in the management of the cultural and natural heritage of Catalonia. Contributors will include managers of museums and natural spaces protected from outside our country with consolidated experiences of joint work between both sectors; directors and technicians of the museums of the Network of Ethnological Museums of Catalonia and of the Catalan protected areas, as well as officials responsible for the different departments of the Government with competences in both areas. Josep M. Mallarach, a member of the IUCN World Commission for Protected Areas, and coordinator of the Silene Association, will give the keynote speech on the integration of cultural and spiritual values in the management of protected natural areas in Europe.
The organisers want to start a steady and continuous process of cooperation between two fields of knowledge and heritage management in Catalonia, which despite having many points in common, have not always cooperated in an integrated way as would be desirable.
