A Visit To The Holy Mountain Athos, Greece

A documentary on Agios Oros (Holy Mountain) or Mount Athos, the only monastic republic existing in the world.  Located in norteastern Greece, the Agios Oros peninsula has over seven hundred Orthodox Christian monastic setlements. The entire territory was declared Natural and Cultural World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The documentary focusses on the life and living heritage of some of the largest monasteries, where about one third of the monastic population is living nowadays, and includes interviews with several monastic authorities.
